Historical Review of Health Issues

Case Study suffered for five years from high anxiety, panic attacks, suicidal tendencies, constant lower back pain and lost the feeling in both her legs. She conformed to taking many different type and strengths of prescription medications to help cope with the pain and limitations she was experiencing.

Subject could not pinpoint any specific physical cause to any of the ailments.

Initial diagnosis for the lower back pain by her Primary Care physician discovered an unstable spine including both ruptured and bulging disks.

She had many surgeries, one of which considered major, was a spinal fusion.

Analysis and Corrective Care Program

Analysis

Upon the initial consultation, the practice member presented herself with constant lower back pain which she rated a 10 out of 10 (10 being extreme pain). She also suffered with bilateral leg numbness.

Gait was achieved with extreme difficulty and movements were guarded accompanied with constant shaking.

Examination revealed severe tenderness and spasm of the low back musculature.

She was unable to perform any lower back or neck range of motion.

Prognosis was: Marked (what does this mean?)

Corrective Care Program

After full review of the subjects physical evaluation, and a thorough review of the new member paperwork (which consists of historical, family and overall health documentation), the following was proposed:

  • Care began at three times a week for three weeks;
  • Twice a week for two weeks;
  • Once a week for 10 weeks; and
  • Once every two weeks for a total 12 times

Progress and Results
Subject has had excellent response to chiropractic care making outstanding progress, responding even sooner then expected.The timeframe for her Corrective Care Program began the second week of March, before her fourth adjustment the following week, she was already reporting a decrease in the intensity of the pain “big time” as was noted. By the next visit in her second week, she stated that this was the best she felt in five years! By her third week, a decrease in the amount of shaking and the degree of anxiety was reported. During the first re-evaluation in week number five, improvement was noted in walking, standing, sitting, sleeping and digestion.

During the re-evaluation, the Case Study rated her progress as an 8 out of 10; 10 being complete resolution to the issues noted during her first visit at Scituate Harbor Chiropratcic.

Dr. Tranberg wrote:
“The member began care being hopeful and interested in what we may find and be able to do for her. She wanted to be pain free and also stabilize her condition so she could then be on a care program for a better future. What started out as hope quickly turned into anticipation, as someone who could only walk with assistance and was reliant on medication to make it through the day, transitioned into a mobile independent drug-free woman! She notes that this has made a positive quality of life change for her. At this time she is expecting continued improvement as she transitions into the wellness phase of her care.”
